[ Sandry is all packed up and ready to go, dusting any dust off her dress. ]

I'll follow you! Oh I do hope they have it. We can go eat it at my house afterwards.

[so kakashi leads her to the nearest grocery store, no doubt filling the time with small talk and etc.

once in the store he heads for the soup section, and sure enough there is a small display of various instant ramen flavors. beef, chicken, spicy shrimp, the works.]

So they do have it, after all.

[ Sandry can make a conversation out of nowhere so the small talk definitely flowed while they walked.

Once in front of the shelves, Sandry picks up one of the ramen flavors and looks it over before putting it back and picking up a second. They seem unremarkable but she's no expert! ]

Which do you recommend? Is there a better one than others?

Well, beef is the classic, so...

[he shrugs. that might be the most authentic experience?]

I don't think any of them are particularly offensive. Just go with flavors you like.

[ Sandry nods resolutely. ]

Then I'll try beef!

[ She picks up the package and turns it around, examining it. ]

You said it's soup, right? Is the soup inside?

It's dehydrated. You have to add hot water to it at home.

[hopefully sandry has a kettle.]

[ Hearing that she gives it a little shake and sure enough, can hear a dry rattle inside. ]

Then, let's go pay and bring them back to my house!

[ And so they paid for their food and made their way to Sandry's house.

Once there she unlocks the door and let's him into a simple one bedroom. There's a small kitchen with a pot and pan, and also a kettle. Non-electric, of course. They room they're in has a table with some chairs, and a piece of cloth on the table. The cloth is only about a foot wide and five feet long, with two large blocks, one yellow and one rust colored, with a border of white surrounding each block. It's an awkward shape to be anything particular, but the colored blocks almost seem to ripple when caught from the corner of the eye. There's also a spinning wheel on one side of the room with a stool and covered basket. Overall it's a very simple room.

Sandry immediately begins filling the kettle with water. ]

How much water will we need?

[kakashi glances around the studio, appreciating the simplicity of it. he likes to keep a simple, clean space himself so the neatness is also appreciated.]

Usually about a cup, I think. Check the back of the package.

[ Sandry stops filling the kettle and picks up the package, examining it carefully. ]

It says... "fill to line inside."

[ She opens the package, examining the inside carefully. ]

Oh, I see.

[ She goes back to the kettle and looks inside, decides there's enough water, and sets it on a lit burner on the stove. ]

I'm quite excited! Do you eat this often?

I don't have the instant stuff very often. There's this ramen stall my sensei likes to go to after missions, though. So I guess you could say I have it...regularly.

[ Sandry beams at him. ]

That sounds like a lovely tradition. Could you tell me about your sensei?

Minato-sensei? Well, he's a genius. And a powerful shinobi, obviously. He might even be the most powerful in the village.

[honestly that's probably not the kind of thing sandry was hoping for in a description but of course that's kakashi's priorities on show.]

[ Good enough! ]

He sounds incredible! How often do you go on missions together? Do you have any fellow students?

All the time. With the war and all, we're on missions weekly or even more than that.

[he sniffs, as though he's going to argue whether he's a "student" or not, but ultimately he decides to let it go. he is an apprentice, after all.]

I have two teammates. They're not as highly ranked as me but we work together well enough.

[ Sandry smiles. ]

I'm glad you have teammates. It's important to have companions! I learned with three other mages and we grew to be siblings.

We're definitely not that close. But that's good for you, I guess.

[kakashi wouldn't know friendship if it hit him in the nose, much less a sibling connection, so take his attitude with a grain of salt.]

[ Kakashi noooo what about their friendship!!! No... it's okay... Sandry believes for the both of them. ]

I bet you're closer than you think! I've found these things tend to sneak up when you don't realize.

[thinking about obito and rin too much is painful, so kakashi artfully avoids emotion by refusing to think about it.]

So, is the water ready yet?

[smooth. so smooth.]

[ The water is, in fact, ready. You're saved, Kakashi.

Sandry goes and fetches the kettle and returns to the table with a trivet to rest it on. ]

So we just pour it into the bowl...? Can you show me?

We need something to cover the bowl, too. To keep the steam inside.

[a small dish would do.]

[ Thankfully Sandry has those. And forks and spoons. Sorry she's too white for chopsticks, that can be a lesson for another day.

She places all the required items on the table in front of him. ]

And I got us utensils as well!

[ She's clearly very excited for this. ]

[imagine eating ramen with a fork....oh well. kakashi takes the kettle and carefully pours the boiling water into the bowl, then covers the bowl with a plate.]

Now we wait three minutes.

[the longest three minutes in the world, according to certain characters who have yet to be born in kakashi's world.]

[ TBH kinda, right...? Sandry sets her kitchen timer for three minutes and stares impatiently at the covered bowls while it counts down. ]

Oh, I can't wait to try! We had cookies, but I'm hungry... I suppose three minutes isn't too much of a price to pay.

Patience is a virtue, you know.

[not kakashi actually teasing. who knew.]

[ Sandry gives a little pout and sits back in her chair, kicking her feet lightly. It's not a very ladylike thing to do, but she doesn't feel like Kakashi is going to judge her for it. She can just... be Sandry.

When the timer goes off she stops it and sits up excitedly. ]

And? Now what?
