[ Sandry marches into the forest with purpose. She remembers where she's going. She can't deny that. Kakashi showed her where he lives and she's sure she'll find him there. She has to.
Sure enough, she arrives at her destination without incident. ]
Hello! Kakashi! Are you home?
[ He might recognize the tote bag she has over her shoulder, though the dress she's wearing is much more like the first time she met him putting up decorations. Or didn't meet him. She's not sure, but it feels comfortable for her. ]
[at this point kakashi is mostly just cleaning up the signs of his presence - toph's insistence on building him a house has mostly driven him out of the woods - but he is indeed there, rolling up his pile of blankets one by one.]
Who's there?
[he calls back before turning around. he looks much more like he did when they first met - the cheeky little boy is gone, replaced by a stern little grown up with a mask covering his face and a sword strapped to his back. grown up is how he sees himself, anyway. he stills his movements when he sees her, two sets of memories clashing in his mind. but there's one thing that's the same in both -]
I thought I'd come over and say hi! It feels like a while since I last saw you. [ Time wise... it probably wasn't that long ago. But it feels long ago. ] How are you?
[ Sandry can tell, he's not... like when they had cookies on the park table. But! That's just a challenge! Surely they can have fun like that again. Surely that's how it's meant to be. ]
Well, I've been strange recently, but it's nothing a bit of time with my friends can't solve! [ She holds up the tote bag with a smile. ] I brought cookies too!
[Okay, not only is the electricity back on, but they're in a new version of Aldrip with a movie theater. So, of course, he has to bug her about showing her around. He promised after all.
That's far more fun and better than thinking about the deeper complications about waking up in Aldrip that's not the one they knew. It's fine.]
[ Sandry is optimistic. That's... really all she has right now. She has to believe it will all work out.
Sandry goes over to a blanket and sits down with a graceful sweep of her long dress. It's different than the clothes she wore last month, but just like what she was wearing the first time they met. The first time? No... she has always been here, in Aldrip, it's her home, right? ]
I made those cookies again. The earl grey shortbread ones. You liked them! And the tea is a darjeeling blend. I think you'll like it.
[he's having enough trouble keeping his memories separated as it is, without sandry trying to blend "real" and "not quite real" together. but he sits across the blanket from her regardless, falling neatly to his knees. a very upright and polite sitting position, nothing like how he used to sprawl out without a care.]
Don't you think it's better to keep what happened these last few weeks...separate?
Acting like common civilians. It's below me and from what you've said it's below you, too. Life's not all sunshine and daisies, it's pointless to pretend otherwise.
[two opinionated brats go at it: round one! fight!]
Yeah, that and the movies, since there's a place now that we can go. Unless you wanted to just go with me and the other club members later on this week.
Don't you dare say that. "Common civilians" do plenty for you. Who grows the food you eat? Makes the clothes you wear? Makes the furniture, the plates and bowls? They deserve your respect. And there's nothing wrong with being happy!
[ She does remember. If Scott thinks it really happened... then perhaps it did. Even if she's not sure.
She doesn't feel very up to going with a crowd to do something, but maybe that's for the best. She won't have to talk as much if everyone talks with each other, and that can cover for her... confusion. ]
I would hate to make you go out of your way just for me. Tell me about your club?
[ It's a beautiful day and Sandry has decided some fresh air and sunlight will do her good. It's not easy, what with her memory and the city being so different but holing herself up in her house isn't doing her any good.
She's settled down on a park bench with an embroidery hoop and a cloth bag, stitching away with confidence and skill. Even if she can't be sure how she knows this, there's no denying that it calms her. As the needle weaves in and out she practices her breathing, letting her mind still and focusing on the threads in front of her. ]
No, it wasn't, you couldn't have known. You're not responsible for that. Besides, it was very safe, we didn't need any protection.
[ Sandry uncharacteristically deflates from her stubborn defiance, casting her eyes downward and looking a little like she might cry. Her voice is soft when she speaks. ]
Are you just going to say that nothing in the last month was real and you're going to forget all about it?
You wouldn't be making me do anything. Besides, there's multiple movies I want to see.
But you should join anyway. You'd fit right in, it's Teenagers With Abilities and Talents and I know that you can do neat stuff with your clothing magic.
[Was there another term? He might've forgotten, sorry Sandry.]
[ Sandry takes a breath and lets it out slowly, trying to calm herself before she speaks, and is mostly successful though she's still looking downwards. ]
I know it wasn't real, but it... it's still so confusing to me. I know but some part of me does not believe.
