[ Ange is still getting used to the new layout of the city, but the best way to do that is to actually get out there and walk around - just so she knows where to find everything in case there's another emergency. The girl figures there inevitably will be one at some point, and then Ange will be prepared.
She isn't necessarily expecting to talk to anyone on her way. Ange's social battery is so easily depleted, after all, and it's not like she really feels like talking to most people around.
.. until something catches her eye, anyway. Ange recognizes Sandry easily, but it's not the girl herself that catches her eye.
It's what she's doing.
She approaches, though she makes sure to not make too loud of a sound as she's doing so. It's not like she wants to startle Sandry when the other is clearly concentrating. ]
.. what are you doing?
[ There's - for once - a hint of curiosity in the flat tone of Ange's voice. ]
That sounds like fun, I'll look forward to it. Both the club and the arcade! I'll be counting on you to show me how to experience these things properly.
[ Sandry does startle when Ange talks to her. She had fallen into a deeper meditation than she meant to, following her embroidery with her magic rather than her eyes. Now she looks up, blinking in the sunlight. ]
Oh! Ange! Well, it's just such a nice day that I came out here to do some embroidery. What about yourself?
Oh. [ That's a slightly surprised 'oh.' Definitely the 'oh' of someone who definitely did not expect to be asked that question in return. It makes her blink for a moment as she's silently thinking of the answer. ]
Not really much of anything. I was just wandering around. Trying to get a feel for the new place.
[ At least it is an honest answer. Even if it makes her sound like someone who doesn't have much going on, but Ange is quickly shoving that idea under the carpet. No need to talk about that, thanks. ]
[ Sandry doesn't think twice about Ange's activity of choice. ]
It's very confusing, isn't it? I think exploring and familiarizing yourself with everything is very important.
[ She looks down at her embroidery. It's a larger piece, about two feet by one foot and about a third finished; the finished portion has trees, clearly a forest scene. Sometimes if the eye catches it at just the right angle it almost looks like the trees might be rustling, as if in a breeze, but after just a moment they're simply trees again; it might have just been a trick of the light. Sandry has a small hoop over part of it, her working area. ]
Oh this! I was making it for a friend, he lived in a forest. I love doing embroidery, it calms me down and helps me focus my magic.
[ True to her word, Sandry is in front of the arcade a bit before an hour; she's not one to be late. She's wearing a dress in the style from home, a sleeveless silver pink overdress and a white underdress with puffy sleeves, but she has a little shoulder bag that's much more Aldrip style.
She gives a smile when Scott walks up. ]
Hello, Scott! Thank you for inviting me out today.
[ Of course Ange's attention is first going to be drawn to that. Any mention of the word magic always catches her attention, after all. The embroidery already seemed to have something like that in it, with the way it seems to move just enough to make Ange wonder if she's just imagining it, but now Sandry is starting about magic.. well, it's making her feel more and more like maybe she really did see it move. It wasn't just an illusion.
Her gaze shifts from the embroidery itself back up to look at the other girl. ]
Are you using that while you're making this? [ There's a slight pause, but then she decides that she feels certain enough about what she saw to bring it up without feeling totally ridiculous about it. ] I'm pretty sure I saw it moving.
[ Sandry looks down at the embroidery for a moment before looking back up with a smile. ]
It does give that impression, doesn't it? It's not actually moving, but I was thinking about a breeze blowing through the trees and the dappled shade while I was embroidering so the magic gives that impression. It's just a bit. I don't have to use magic while I embroider, but I wanted it to be special.
[As Sandry comes into view, he can't help but wonder if he should've tossed on something other than his normal clothes-- his go to of shirt, jeans, and jacket. If it ain't broke-- but she bothered to show up in a dress that's pretty cute. Whatever, it's probably fine, they're just two friends hanging out at the arcade.
So, he casually walks up to her, one hand waving while the other's buried in his jacket pocket.]
Hey Sandry, and no problem. [A beat.] I'm kind of an expert at this sort of thing now-- introducing people to true American culture.
[...Nevermind the fact that the arcade is from Kotone's world-- so Japanese. It's fine. CLOSE ENOUGH says Scott.]
[ Sandry gives a sniff, fishing a handkerchief out of her pocket and daintily wiping her eyes. Really, she's not one for crying, it's just so much right now. ]
Yes, there are. But that doesn't mean I'm going to stop being your friend. I'm not going to forget the time we spent together last month.
[ Sandry gives what almost could be a small laugh. It's close enough. Crying episode over, Sandry puts the handkerchief away and resumes setting up the cookies and tea. ]
I won't forget it but I won't make you talk about it, deal?
[ She opens the container of cookies, the same kind they ate in the park, and places the cookies between them, almost like a peace offering. ]
[he hesitates for a second, then takes a cookie. he holds it for an even longer moment before he reaches up and tugs his mask down. she's seen his face, he tells himself. no need to be weird about it.]
[ Funnily enough, this is just her normal clothes and she doesn't think twice about Scott's outfit. It must be what's comfortable for him, just as this is comfortable for her. ]
Is that where you're from? American? Are arcades common there?
[ Sandry notices his hesitation but doesn't comment on it. She feels like she's pushed enough for now. He's eating a cookie and that's what matters.
Next comes out the travel mugs and thermos; the tea won't be hot at this point, but it feels wrong not to have tea with cookies. She pours a mug for both of them while she talks, placing one in front of Kakashi when she's done. ]
Yes! I didn't bake before last month, but I think it's fun. I'm glad I got to learn it. [ She hesitates, clearly unsure, before continuing. ] Back in Emelan I never was in the kitchen growing up, and then at the temple we got food from the Hub, and now no one lets me in the kitchen again.
And they're pretty common, usually there's at least one in the mall. Otherwise, who would want to be there unless they're showing the latest Star Wars movie. [No kid that wants to have fun would go to a mall without an arcade or movie theater. Guess there's music stores and everything, but Scott would rather do multiple things in one place instead of just shop.
Regardless, he steps closer to Sandry, briefly bumping shoulders with her before nodding to entrance.] Come on, gotta get your mind blown now.
